Bailey Allen Baker

Alt-Country/Singer-Songwriter/Americana

Bailey Allen Baker

Bailey Allen Baker is not very good at making eye contact. He’s a songwriter, who writes lyrics about conversations that won’t ever happen.

His new album “Grab A Bucket” focuses heavily on transitions in life, and mostly with the insecurity and fear that comes with change. Songs like Daniel Plainview or Stench (of youth) are from an immature point-of-view, filled with superfluous imagery and dramatic performances. While songs like Scribbled Holograms, Zut Alors! or the closing track Out Since The Recession act more understated in their imagery, their lyrics more resigned. “Grab A Bucket’s” sound is a step away from his first record, capturing more of an alt-country/indie folk sound that’s reminiscent of the album's inspirations, like Songs:Ohia, Smog, and the Silver Jews.

The content is brooding and melancholic, often with that slight reference to resignation. The goal is simple, to not open his eyes.
