Chief Broom
Rock/Post-Rock/Experimental/Post-Punk/Spazz-Jazz/Grunge
CHIEF BROOM was formed by Shadrach and his brother Tanner “TJ” Tuck in high-school and fluctuated in activity while focusing their energies into the band SLY MOON SUTRA. When former SLY MOON member William “Cheese” Cheeseman jammed with the Tuck brothers, he encouraged them to restart and revitalize the project. Since then CHIEF BROOM has toured around the Pacific Northwest and opened for Ceremony, Holy Fawn, Spirit of the Beehive, and many more.
Unfortunately TJ Tuck passed away at 22 years old of a fentanyl overdose. TJ has had a profound effect on the Boise music scene and culture. CHIEF BROOM’s mission is focused on carrying on his legacy and finishing what he had started. Their inaugural LP “Hidden in Plain Sight” features his drumming and artistic vision throughout the record including vocal and musical sound bites from TJ and Shad’s childhood. It encompasses themes of exploration and coming of age as brothers and friends in a small town changing before their eyes as they themselves change. Navigating the throes of formative years in garnering friendships and sometimes losing them in the wake of addiction and interpersonal conflict, ultimately culminating in the arc of hope by moving on, embracing recovery, while learning to live with trauma, and coming to terms with adulthood and acceptance of self.
